Stroll amongst the lichens
Safely anchored within an ice free harbour we went ashore without too much boat separation anxiety.
In the morning we shopped in the wonderful store that sold everything from wedding dresses to high velocity rifles. Liquor, of course, was kept behind curtains to remove temptation.
Coffee at the hotel overlooking the SE corner of Disko Bay where, apparently, whales are seen most days.
In the afternoon we took the dinghy into a sediment filled bay and walked up the ridges to the gunpowder store and then along the rolling hillside carpeted with deep lichens and flowers whose buds had just escaped the long winter.
The tide had receded when the got back to the dinghy and we slithered around in the gloopy clay trying to get back afloat.
