To Loding

On day one normality was restored. The trek-ware was back to the styling of the 80’s and 90’s as one would expect from this group and our team was all breakfasted and ready to go before 8am.

We passed Paphlu airport and descended before crossing the river and climbing through a lovely terraced valley. A path veered off into the forest and climbed steeply through pine and rhododendron woods with dappled sunlight striking the wild flowers. We were at around 2,500m and sadly Sally was struggling with heat, sleep disruption and a bit of altitude.

At 2,620m we came to the Sherpa Brothers’ house and a warm welcome from mother, sister and other family members. It is swathed in rich terraces and forest looking out over the valley and village towards Pikey peak
