The latest ‘project’

A rare opportunity to secure an elevated, mainland, west facing, coastal plot with outline planning consent (20/00131/PPP) offering wonderful views to the west and south west over Loch Shuna to the Islands of Shuna, Luing, Scarba, Jura and the Isle of Mull.

Building Plot on land East of Traighuaine extends to about a third of an acre in all. The site is undeveloped but is situated within the hamlet of Traighuaine, currently 5 houses with this plot forming the rounding off of the development. The site is located in a wonderful coastal position of great natural scenic beauty in the mid North West highlands of Scotland and from its raised position enjoys remarkable views out across Asknish Bay to Shuna, Luing, Scarba & Jura.

Arduaine, 1 mile to the North is a pretty and popular west highland ribbon coastal settlement with houses arranged around a sheltered bay. The majority of the houses of the district enjoy a southerly and westerly exposure. The plot East of Traighuaine is set up and back from the old coastal road and from the A816 which connects Lochgilphead in the south with Oban further north.

The Loch Melfort Hotel is a short drive to the north of The Plot East of Traighuaine and it lies at the entrance to the famous Arduaine Gardens. The Hotel has an excellent bistro and formal restaurant. The village of Kilmelford is 5 miles north, has a small village store with a restaurant above as well as a comfortable highland hotel and restaurant. Kilmelford Yacht Haven is a well established facility with 55 swinging moorings and Melfort holiday Village and Melfort Pier and Harbour has restaurants open to the public. Ardfern, which lies 4.5 miles to the south, has a lovely and well stocked village store and an excellent, newly opened café/restaurant, a pub/hotel and primary school. It also has the popular Ardfern Yacht Centre at the head of Loch Craignish with 80 pontoon berth and 95 swinging moorings. Home Port to Princess Anne’s Boat Ballochbuie. To the South lies historic Kilmartin Glen which is 9 miles, The Crinan Canal which is 16.4 miles, Lochgilphead which is 17 miles and the Kintyre Peninsular. The Crinan Hotel is famous for its sea-food festival. Lochgilphead and Oban provide education and more extensive shopping and professional services.

In addition, 1.6 miles to the south is Craobh Haven which is a popular purpose-built holiday and sailing village. The village overlooks a group of small inshore islands which now shelter a fine yacht marina, and the stunning views take in the local islands of Shuna, Seil and Luing, as well as many better known islands from Jura in the South to the highlands of Mull in the North. The village has a local shop and an excellent pub/restaurant.

The large, safe water marina was formed by the building of causeways and a large breakwater between a small group of tidal saltwater islands. The marina has been developed from a near perfect natural harbour, with berths for up to 250 craft of all sizes to a maximum length of 33 metres. Craobh marina has a harbourmaster, marina office and marine store; it provides an excellent base from which boating enthusiasts can explore an extensive selection of West Coast sea lochs and islands with lots of sheltered anchorages. It also provides easy access to the Clyde, Ireland and the Inner and Outer Hebrides, arguably, some of the best sailing grounds in the world. In addition, there are a number of excellent wildlife cruises which also take in the famous Gulf of Corryvreckan. The area has an array of wildlife including sea otters, seals, porpoise and dolphins in the immediate vicinity with golden eagles, sea eagles and other raptures seen overhead.

The local countryside provides an abundance of outdoor and sporting activities including hill walking and mountain biking which are available nearby to Land east of Traighuaine and there are numerous hill lochs for trout fishing plus some spate streams for salmon and sea-trout. The entire west coast offers excellent sea fishing sport and with permission/permits some of the local estates allow shooting and stalking.
