Providencia

It looks like our weather window for moving south will be early next week leaving us plenty of time to climb the hills, snorkel the reefs and to chill out in this out-of-the-way paradise.

There is, of course, a list of  boat jobs to focus on. Our course computer’s electronics hiccup appears to have fixed itself which is both a relief and an annoyance. That means that my temporary repair to the tiller arm can be put to the test for the final 250 miles of this season’s voyage.

Looks like I’ve an electronics project too. Just watched two 30 minutes YouTube videos on changing the backlight bulb from fluorescent to led in our Raymarine e120 chart plotters. Astute readers will know that our bulb blew mid passage to Providencia. There’s a great blog about changing the bulb at http://blog.mailasail.com/anastasia/posts/2018/10/31/489-replacing-backlight-with-leds-in-raymarine-e-series-e120-display  but I’m not sure how to source the parts in Panama. More research required.

Our plan is to skip the tourist- packed San AndrĂ©s Island on our way south next wek but to pause instead in the superbly remote Albuquerque Cays 74 miles SW of here. It should be the ultimate coral island experience if the weather is calm enough. It’s so tiny it doesn’t show up on Google Earth but does on Apple Maps

The newly replaced bridge to Islas Catalina. The old one was  destroyed by hurricane Iotta in 2020

Our Agent, Mr Bush, handled our checking in.

Hoping to stop off at Albuquerque Cays
