The aluminium dingy that floated past us during the gale was full of water and our Torqedo outboard struggled to tow it back. When I started to bale I quickly realised that of the two burst rubbish bags in the boat, one was full of used toilet paper. We did the minimum baling necessary before tying it to a mooring and handing the problem to the coastguard!
Sally and Simon left Scotland in 2015 on board Shimshal to begin a slow circumnavigation taking in various high latitude destinations. After 3 seasons in Greenland we sailed south to northern Newfoundland. In 2019 we cruised the Canadian Maritimes. In 2022 & 23 we cruised via New England, Chesapeake, Florida, Cuba, Cayman, Providencia to Bocas del Toro. In late 2023 we began a 2 year crossing of the Pacific arriving in New Zealand in October 2025.
