Tonight we are tied up at the Government Wharf in Fermeuse. We started a little later than planned as it was raining hard when the alarm went off and fog filled the harbour. It was all too easy to turn over and slumber on until the sun was out.
Just as we motored off the quay we were surprised to hear ‘Simon’ being shouted out from one of the other docked boats. Neither of us recognised the caller but they seemed friendly enough and we motored on.
At sea the faintest of head winds meant the engine stayed on and we ducked into the marine reserve at Witless Bay where there were countless rafts of puffins and guillemots. In the air squadrons of birds flew in tight formation from the feeding grounds. It was good to see the ocean alive at last - but still no whales!
In the afternoon we ducked into Fermeuse Harbour with its green fields and green forests. In time for a short walk ashore. Lovely!
