We rounded Horse Chops - yes that really is the name of the headland - on a sparkling, clear day with views stretching forty miles in each direction. Such a contrast to Bonavista which was thick with classic Newfoundland fog and drizzle.
As we passed Horse Chops a super-loud foghorn rang out from the cliffs above. Only in Newfoundland would they leave the fog horn on just in case a bank of mist swirled in on a sunny, summers afternoon!
In an hour we will be in Trinity but there won’t be much sunbathing there as the clear skies have come with a cool northerly airstream. That’s great for our sailing plans but it means the thinsulate suits are out despite us being at the same latitude as northern Spain.
