Placentia Bay

Fog free, mirror calm and hardly a breath of wind. This is not how we expected the Grand Banks to be but we are certainly not complaining!

We are burning a lot more diesel than we had expected but we are romping along in the right direction as a consequence. Forty miles on Tuesday, forty on Wednesday and, with a pre-dawn start today, we hope to tick off another eighty three miles before we dock in Burin tonight.

Placentia Bay looks like it is going to win on the wildlife stakes with countless rafts of seabirds, diving gannets, guano strewn cliffs, porpoise, seals and some very large (as yet unidentified) whales. All this adventure on a calm sea and only a few fluffy clouds in the sky.

Cyclizine Sally is able to tinker away in the galley without a hint of seasickness. But then the sea is so smooth it is not much of a challenge for the Cyclizine!
