We had visitors last week who seemed eager to get to grips with hard manual labour. Being rather limp wristed these days, I was only too happy to hand over my chainsaw to Michael along with the considerable task of slicing up the remains of a 1,000 year old yew tree that had fallen in last winter’s storms.
But first he had to do the dissection. Out came the tools and my trusty chainsaw was soon in bits with jets cleaned, bearings oiled and spark plug polished. Once it was reassembled, Michael the Lumberjack (Holzfäller)) was transformed from cardiac anaesthetist and intensivist to a whirling dervish with a lethal weapon! By now, of course, my chainsaw was running like it’s never run before with sharpened teeth and purring engine.
The logs that were small enough were then lugged up to the castle top where they were then assembled into thrones - one on the Motte and one for the Bailey.
Thank you Michael, Anna and Daníel for coming to stay and for joining in with our castle antics.
