The loons of Lunenburg

Fog and sunshine have temporarily given way to gale force gusts and driving rain and so we have spent the day on a Lunenburg Yacht Club mooring spotting loons. Despite booking brunch ashore, the weather kept us onboard to enjoy the comforts of our deck saloon as we surge around our mooring listening to the wind and rain.

There’s some pretty diverse sailboats here. The ‘wishbone’ boomed ‘Nonsuch’ look great under sail with an unstayed mast - apparently they are quite prone to losing their rigs! There’s a lot of J27’s,  an Ocean 60 and a 80’ racing machine. Most folk are now hauling their boats as the season is drawing to a close.
