A week of entertaining at Traighuaine

Many cruisers and kayakers have joined us this week at Traighuaine and, as usual, Sally kept them all well fed from her Scottish Galley.

First to arrive were Ronnie and Alison, fresh home from cycling the length and breadth of America. They had some exciting but secret news to share!

Peter and June came for tea and cake and rekindled memories of our first meeting on a bleak afternoon in Ittoqqortoormiut when flurries of snow were blowing in the August breeze.

Next Toby and Ian sailed in on Truant having ghosted through Cuan under sail and against the tide. They picked up our mooring but dismissed it in favour of one across the bay that had been serviced. Supper on board Truant turned out to be an hilarious affair as Toby regaled us with an hair raising story of changing the log impeller whilst underway and dealing with the leaks afterwards.

Canadians Jayne and Mike turned up for lunch after a fruitless search for propane. As I write Loons Lace is still propane free.

Joerg invited us on board his cavernous Amel for pre-dinner drinks and Friday brought a change of crew when Ronnie and Alison headed home and the Knights  dropped by on their way from Lochinver to Herefordshire.

On Saturday even more mustered for a supper of Ernest’s Chicken. The numbers were bolstered by the arrival of Bob Shepton and the appearance of Nigel and Veronica’s Novara on our mooring. With more than 20 tons tugging at our rusting chains we were pleased that the winds were calm.

After dinner we sat in the sunroom and a pine marten gracefully hopped across our lawn enchanting even the most hardened adventurers in our midst.
