The mornings are getting a little chilly but once the sun pokes its way through it warms up and we zoom along without headwinds, rain or snow. Zoom may be a bit of an exaggeration as we are frequently overtaken by sleek fellow cyclists on ultralight racing machines bedecked with lycra in all the colours of the rainbow. I keep assuring Sally that they are on eBikes and that’s the reason they flash past us but the reality is that it’s the lycra that’s giving them the edge.
The route is nearly always on a cycleway of some sort and it dodges and weaves its way through villages, factories, manicured countryside and suburbs. We have followed roads, rivers, canals and railways but the high lights are the sunny cafe stops in picture perfect town squares.
