Today’s ride was complicated by lots of cars, closed cycleways and hoards of tourists on the pavements. The castle had a ban on riding bikes despite having a fleet of their own for hire. Once out of the castle gardens we were on the open road with vehicles flashing past and ever closer.
After a coffee break Komkoot took us off into a quiet land of rivers, arable fields and dykes to prevent flooding. A mile or two from our eco-hotel the paved road degenerated into a gravel track and we bounced along beneath the sunshine.
It’s a shame the weather turns sour on Wednesday with 75mm of rain still forecast. It looks like we will be taking a Wednesday shuttle to get us (and our bikes) north of the worst weather. All is yet to be confirmed.
